Trilly Cheesesteaks is now open in Mid-City at 4413 Banks Street.
Cheesesteak pop-up Trilly Cheesesteaks
(4413 Banks St., 504-784-8169) has found a permanent home and is open for business in Mid-City.
The creative cheesesteak concept opened last week near the corner of Banks and S. Alexander Streets. The building was occupied by local crawfish pro James Clesi — who moved out earlier this year with plans to open a larger, outdoor spot a few blocks away
— and sits next to Banks Street Bar, which underwent a change of ownership when Mid City Pizza owner Rand Owens purchased the spot a few months ago.
Trilly Cheesesteaks owner Chris Beegle has been taking his mobile sandwich game all over town over the past year and still holds down a weekly Wednesday night pop-up at Sidney’s Saloon. At his new restaurant, an expanded menu includes the classic version of the Philadelphia favorite, with sauteed steak, peppers and onions and American cheese on a roll.
For each meat version of a sandwich, there's a vegan counterpart. The Far East Philly features steak seasoned with ginger, soy sauce, fried pickled red onions and cream cheese, and the vegan version features all of the same ingredients but swaps out steak seitan instead (the same goes for the chicken and Buffalo chicken versions). For sides, there are Fried pickles.
Trilly Cheesesteaks is open daily from 5 p.m. to midnight, and will add extended hours soon.
