The taco and tequila party Top Taco is March 15. In its second year, the event is moving to Woldenberg Park, and there will be tacos from more than 50 restaurants and food vendors and 40 types of spirits and cocktails.

Organizer Shane Finkelstein modeled the event on a similar festival in Denver. A portion of the proceeds go to One Heart NOLA, an organization that raises funds and awareness for children in foster care. Last year, the fest raised more than $20,000 for the nonprofit.

Participating restaurants include Baru Bistro and Tapas, La Casita, Casa Borrega, Felipe's, Cochon Butcher, Sac-a-Lait, SoBou and Cowbell.

As with last year, a team of judges and guests at the event will vote for their favorite tacos and margaritas in several categories.

Last year, Taqueria Chilangos (2723 Roosevelt Blvd., Kenner, 504-469-5599) won both the judges’ and attendees’ vote for Top Traditional Taco. This year, the Ultimate Top Taco Award dedicated to Chilango’s former owner David Montes de Oca, who died last year at the age of 36. Other categories include Top Creative Taco, Top Creative Tequila Cocktail and Top Margarita.

A VIP Lounge and silent auction are on board the Paddlewheeler Creole Queen, where there will be dishes from eight restaurants, extra anejo tequila tastings, a premium open bar, and music by The Iguanas. Other musical guests include Otra, Muevlo and Los Po-boy-citos.

New this year is "Agave Week," which includes events, seminars, tastings and parties celebrating tequila and mescal. Advance registration for the events is required. A full schedule is here.

Entry to Top Taco includes unlimited food and drinks. General admission (7 p.m.) is $69.
Early entry (6 p.m.) is $89. VIP tickets are $125 per person. Tickets and information are here.
