Between family events and a looming gauntlet of obligations-disguised-as-fun (hello, office Christmas party), the holidays can be a little stressful. If it all makes you want to sneak away for a drink or six with friends, this list is for you.

Over the next several nights, some of your favorite neighborhood bars are hosting holiday parties, trivia nights and ugly sweater parties, offering the chance to unwind, enjoy a 'nog and avoid Aunt Esmerelda — at least for another couple of hours.

Dec. 15: Finn's Nightmare Before Christmas Party. Bring an ornament to trim the tree at this party themed around the Tim Burton Halloween/Christmas mash-up. Costumes and ugly sweaters are encouraged and there's karaoke. At 7 p.m. at Finn McCool's Irish Pub.

Dec. 15: Star Wars Holiday Special Dance Party. The 1978 holiday TV special is screened, and there are themed cocktails and a costume contest. DJ Kate Yes Yes spins at 8 p.m. at Twelve Mile Limit.

Dec. 15: Ugly Sweater Party. A party features an ugly sweater contest and also an ugly sweater station, where participants can create their own monuments to holiday tackiness. At Dat Dog's Magazine Street location at 5 p.m.; judging begins at 7 p.m.

Dec. 18: The Saint's Annual Xmas Party. At this party, participants can share stories of this year's naughtiness with Santa; the most heinous tale wins a prize. There also are drink specials and, um, "evil elves." At 10 p.m. at The Saint.

Dec. 19: Ugly Sweater Party. There are holiday cocktail parties and an ugly sweater runway show at a party at the NOPSI Hotel's rooftop bar, Above the Grid. At 5 p.m.

Dec. 23: How the Goths Stole Xmas. Shadow Gallery's annual gothic holiday party features DJs and dancing upstairs at Bar Mon Cher. At 10 p.m.
