This week marks the last chance diners have to eat at the Ruby Slipper Cafe’s flagship location in Mid-City before it closes.

Sunday, Dec. 17 is the last day of service at the original location at 139 S. Cortez St. Ruby Slipper brunch fans can get eggs Blackstone, barbecue shrimp and grits and grapefruit mimosas at the new Mid-City location at 315. S. Broad St. beginning Dec. 22.

Proprietors Jennifer and Erich Weishaupt opened the first location of their breakfast and lunch restaurant in 2008 before expanding to locations in the Central Business District, Marigny and Uptown. The group eventually opened locations in Baton Rouge, Pensacola, Florida and Orange Beach, Alabama, and have announced plans to open a spot in Mobile, Alabama in Spring 2018.
