Carmo in the Warehouse District will start serving breakfast on Dec. 1.
Good news for Warehouse District dwellers and workers: Carmo
(527 Julia St., 504-875-4132), the tropical-themed restaurant from chef and owners Dana and Christina Honn, will soon serve breakfast.
The new menu debuts Friday, Dec.1, and features an eclectic mix of breakfast bocadillos —
sandwiches served on Bellegarde Bakery maize baguettes — tortillas, breakfast bowls, baked goods and fruit smoothies. As with the restaurant’s other menus, there are ample options for vegans and vegetarians.
Menu items include a tortilla Espanola
made with manchego, tomatoes and roasted pepper aioli, a pan con chicharron
, featuring crispy pork or tofu, sweet potatoes, aji amarillo sauce and red onions, a quinoa breakfast bowl with Peruvian mayocoba beans, sweet potatoes, Andean choclo, avocado and salsa Criolla. A breakfast miso broth bowl is made with white and red miso, grated carrots, scallions and seasonal vegetables and diners can add tofu or a poached egg on top. A bowl of stone-ground grits is topped with a poached egg, braised greens, wild boar sausage and hot sauce.
The restaurant offers breakfast 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday through Saturday and also is open for lunch and dinner.
