star Chef Isaac Toups is launching a monthly dining series at Toups South
(1504 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd., 504-304-2147) Sept. 21.
The Counter Club series will feature special four-course menus and will be held at the Central City restaurant’s
18-seat exhibition counter surrounding the open kitchen.
“Anyone who knows me, knows I love to get creative with the food we’re doing and Counter Club gives me the opportunity to just have fun with menu and do some really cool things,” Toups said in a press release. “I really intend to go out of the box, ditch the menu and flex some of my off-kilter ideas.”
The series will be held on the third Thursday of the month. The themes for each of the dinners will be revealed the first week of the month but menus will remain secret until the dinner.
The inaugural Sept. 21 event is dubbed “A Fowl Experience.” Toups and chef de cuisine Seamus Rozycki will serve guests dishes such as a Laotian-inspired duck breast larb salad made with butter lettuce, minced duck breast, Thai chilies and puffed rice, and pickled quail eggs served with caviar, among other items.
Tickets to the dinners are $50 per person, not including drinks, tax or gratuity. Seating is limited. Guests can reserve tickets in advance by calling the restaurant at (504) 304-2147.
