The newly renovated gae-tana's clothing boutique hosts a three-day grand reopening celebration.
Longtime Uptown women's clothing boutique gae-tana's
(7732 Maple St., 504-865-9625; www.gaetanas.com) reopens at 10 a.m. today after being closed more than three months to repair damage from a one-alarm fire May 19.
Williams Plum Street Snowballs
will serve its specialty from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Jewelry artist Suzanne Lossi
will be in the store Friday and Saturday, and artist Grant Nelson
will paint a canvas on site from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
A highlight of the celebration Saturday is a second-line parade with a brass band. The public is invited to join in as the procession makes its way from Bruno's Tavern (7538 Maple St.) to gae-tana's. The second line starts at 12:30 p.m.
Renovation of the building includes wood reclaimed from the original shop, which has been open for three decades, made into shelves and other display items. The shop's merchandise will remain a variety of classic and trendy apparel, shoes, jewelry, handbags and other accessories.
