Daniel Johnston performs Sept. 28 at The Joy Theater.
Prolific songwriter and beloved outsider artist Daniel Johnston will begin a rare — and final — North American tour in New Orleans this fall. Preservation Hall's Preservation All-Stars are also on the bill.
Johnston has invited bands sharing the bill each night to create the set list at that show, and each show will begin with a screening of the acclaimed 2005 documentary The Devil and Daniel Johnston.
Tickets are $32.50-52.50.
Pre-sales begin 10 a.m. Thursday, July 27, and general tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Friday, July 28.
Johnston has announced only four other dates on his final tour: Oct. 4 in Philadelphia with The Districts and Modern Baseball; Oct. 20 in Chicago with Jeff Tweedy and friends; Nov. 8 in Portland, Oregon with Built to Spill and others; and Nov. 10 in Vancouver, also with Built to Spill and others.
