Continental Provisions, the gourmet sandwich shop inside the French Market, has closed.

The shop, a collaborative effort by members of St. James Cheese Co., Bellegarde Bakery, and the since-shuttered Cleaver & Co., made the announcement July 1 that it was closing for good that day.

A statement said the stand’s proprietors — Richard Sutton, Graison Gill and Seth Hamstead — will be “focusing their time and efforts on their other business ventures.”

“Working in the French Market and the French Quarter has been a great experience,” Sutton said in the statement.

“We have really appreciated the loyalty of our local customers who frequent our booth and will miss them.”
