  • The Deslondes' Hurry Home is out June 23.

New Orleans' downtown honky-tonking outfit The Deslondes will follow its excellent 2015 debut full-length album with 2017's Hurry Home, out this summer on New West Records. The band premiered the music video for the album's first single "Muddy Water" on Rolling Stone.

"Muddy Water" departs from the album's rock 'n' roll with a humid, finger-picked slow burn starring Riley Downing's gruff baritone cutting through lap steel, gently hammered piano and full-band harmonies. The video — from filmmaker Joshua Shoemaker, who also recently directed Hurray for the Riff Raff's dramatic rendition of The Ronettes' "Be My Baby" — depicts the band in a slowed-down, southern-heavy memory fog as young versions of themselves making a Stand By Me-inspired discovery.
Hurry Home was produced by Nashville whiz Adrija Tokic (who also helmed the band's self-titled 2015 album, as well as Hurray for the Riff Raff's Small Town Heroes, among others). It's out June 23.

The band performs at the W XYZ Bar at Aloft on Aril 27, at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and at Tipitina's on May 6, and at Bayou Boogaloo May 20.
