Sausage vendor Bratz Y'all! (617 B Piety St., 504-301-3222) opened its Bywater restaurant and beer garden today. Sven Vorkauf started Bratz Y'all as a food vendor at festivals and events. He and wife Jen Vorkauf's new spot serves sausages and German fare and German beers, wines and liquors, and there's indoor seating and a patio decorated like a German beer garden.

The menu focuses on bratwursts, pork sausages and schnitzels in sandwiches and on platters, and there also are vegetarian items. The Nuernberger is a pork sausage topped with sauerkraut, caramelized onions and mustard on a pretzel bun. The Nola schnitzel is breaded and deep-fried pork loin topped with crawfish remoulade slaw on a seeded bun. Platters feature Berliner currywursts, rinderroulade (beef roulade stuffed with onions and sausage) and schweinshaxe (pork shank) and come with sides such as German potato salad, potato dumplings, sauerkraut and fried onions. A la carte sides include sweet-and-sour slaw, french fries and grilled vegetables.

Bratz also offers pretzels, cheese pretzels and pretzel dips. There's apple strudel for dessert. Draft beers include Warsteiner Dunkel and Pilsner, Krostritzer Black Lager, Hofbrauhaus Munchen Oktoberfest, Paulaner Hefe-Weizen and others. Bottled beers include Andechs Vollbier Hell, Reissdorf Koelsch, Einbecker Ainpocklish Heller Bock and others. Rieslings and pinot noir dominate the short list of German wines. And the roster of German shots features apple brandies, schnapps and liqueurs,

Sven Vorkauf is a native of Berlin. He moved to New Orleans and started Bratz Y'all in 2012. It focused on catering and local festivals, and it will have a booth at French Quarter Festival. Bratz Y'all! won best pork for its Nola Schnitzel at the 2016 Oak Street Po-boy Festival.

Bratz Y'all! is open for lunch and dinner Wednesday through Sunday.
