A carnival-goer braves the birth canal experience at Cirque d'So-Lame in 2015.
Krewe of Mystic Inane gets an early start on Krewe du Vieux's raunch and satire with its Cirque d'So-Lame event
on Saturday, Oct. 22 at Castillo Blanco
(4321 St. Claude Ave.). There are carnival amusements, interactive games, creepy tactile experiences, a beet-eating contest, "Heave Starvey's Lil Inanities Pageant," free beer and more. A foam party rave tops the festivities. Contest prizes include a three-way date.
For its sixth year, the fundraiser moves from Mid-City to Bywater. The carnival runs from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Admission is $20 and includes game chances, beer and food. Attendees must be at least 21 years old.
The Krewe du Vieux
parade will be Feb. 11, 2017 in Faubourg Marigny and the French Quarter. The procession features satirical floats, often with risque or raunchy themes, plus brass bands and a local celebrity as a monarch. Big Freedia reigned over the procession in 2016.
