Wine of the Week

Whitehall Lane, originally founded in 1979, has been family owned and operated by the Leonardini clan for the past 25 years. This wine is a blend of 82 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 9 percent Merlot, 5 percent Cabernet Franc and 4 percent Petite Verdot aged in a combination of French and American oak for 20 months. In the glass, aromas of ripe dark fruit echo on the palate with lush flavors of plum, currant and blackberry with some toasty oak and earthy undertones. This well-structured, balanced wine will age gracefully over the next five years. Decant for best results. Good with rare, grilled meat, hardy roasts and chocolate. Where to buy it: Elio's Wine Warehouse, Dorignac's, Cost Plus World Markets in Elmwood, Harvey and Covington, and Martin Wine Cellar in Mandeville. Where to drink it: Morton's at Canal Place (Listings current at press time.)
