Wine of the Week

Located in the small town of Kangarilla in South Australia's McLaren Vale district, the winery produces this lush, fruit-forward wine matured in one-, two-, three- and four-year-old barrels. A well-structured, easy-drinking wine with soft tannins, it offers aromas of mulberries and spice with a whiff of pepper. On the palate, a cascade of red and black berry fruit leads into a long, smooth finish. It drinks well now and will continue to mature over the next seven to eight years. Match it with a variety of dishes like grilled lamb, steak au poivre, venison and game. Where to buy it: Rouse's Supermarkets in Metairie, Covington and Slidell and Acquistapace's Covington Supermarket. Where to drink it: NOLA, Herbsaint, Peristyle, Bourbon House, Houston's, Byblos, Palace Café, Broussard's, Club 300 Jazz Restaurant, Tommy's Cuisine and Annadele's Plantation. (Listings current at press time.)
