Wine of the Week

This wine's easy-drinking, well-crafted charms won best of show honors for Pinot Noir at this year's New Orleans Wine and Food Experience. Produced in Victoria's Yarra Valley in southeastern Australia near Melbourne, the wine is aged ten months in new and seasoned French oak barrels. In the glass, cherry and spice scents are followed by plum and dark cherry flavors with oaky nuances, a fine tannin structure and soft, lingering finish. Drink now or cellar over the next 5-7 years. This wonderfully food friendly wine is an excellent accompaniment to a wide variety of dishes including tuna, salmon, chicken, pork, lamb, beef and cheese. Where to buy it: The Wine Seller, Whole Foods Market in Metairie and Dorignac's. Where to drink it: Irene's Cuisine, Jackson, Houston's and Copeland's in Covington.
