Sourced primarily from old vines Ñ aged 25 years or more Ñ grapes for this well balanced wine were harvested from select vineyards in Rioja, SpainÕs most prestigious wine region. Aged two years in oak, the wine is a blend of 75 percent Tempranillo, 20 percent Garnacha (in France, called Grenache) and 5 percent Manzuelo (Carignan). Supple and aromatic, the wine shows earthy notes on the nose with just a hint of vanilla followed by vibrant red and dark berry flavors. It will open up more with splash decanting. A good wine for cook-outs with grilled meats such as beef, pork and lamb and with roasted venison and other game dishes. Where to buy it: Cork & Bottle, Bacchanal and DorignacÕs.
