South Australia's Langhorne Creek region sprawls across an ancient floodplain and is home to some of Australia's most interesting and full-bodied wines. Established in 1850, the Potts' family's highly rated Bleasdale is made from 100 percent Shiraz fruit sourced from vineyards along the banks of the Bremer River. Aged nine months in American oak, the wine is currant and spice-scented with rich, plumy flavors, toasty oak, black pepper and an earthy quality. Smooth tannins, well structured. Needs time to open up so it's best when poured about 20-30 minutes before serving. Good paired with duck, beef, lamb, barbecue chicken wings and meatloaf. Where to buy it: Dorignac's.
