Unquestionably one of the best places on the planet to grow Sauvignon Blanc, New ZealandÕs ÒMarlborough countryÓ is located on the northern end of the South Island. Blessed with a perfectly suited climate for grape growing, the region also boasts the most hours of sunshine in the country along with those cool-down nights. Soil conditions are also optimum in the Wairau Valley where the fruit for this wine was sourced, composed of stones and river silt from an ancient glacial riverbed. An excellent vintage, the 2004 produced fruit of great intensity and depth of flavor. Concentrated aromas of camphor, tropical fruits and flowers continue on the palate with lively, refreshing citrusy flavors and a pleasant, stony mineralilty. Enjoy now and over the next year and a half. Delicious as an aperitif and with shellfish, Asian cuisine and soft cheeses.
