Wine of the Week


Walla Walla, a tiny American Viticultural Area (AVA) in the southeastern corner of Washington, which overlaps into Oregon, produced the 100 percent Syrah grapes for this blend from four different vineyards. Aged 14 months in 2-year-old Burgundy barrels, the wine is bold, rich and intensely flavored, offering layers of blackberry, plum and cherry fruit, chocolate, coffee, spices and black pepper. The wine is remarkable now but will improve with bottle aging over the next several years. Rated a 93 by Wine Spectator. Pairs well with grilled and roasted meats and tomato-based dishes.
