More than a century has passed since John Riddoch established the first winery, now Wynn's Coonawarra Estate, in Australia's premier wine-growing region. This vintage is a blend of 61-percent Cabernet Sauvignon, which contributes the flavor, structure and finish; 26 percent Shiraz, imparting a spicy complexity and richness; and 13 percent Merlot to add softness. Aged 12 months in a combination of new and old French and American oak, the wine offers aromas of vibrant fruit, fresh violets and raspberries with parsley and sage notes followed by lively berry flavors, ripe plum vanilla and spicy fruit flavors on the palate. Delicious with roasted vegetables, pasta dishes, roast duck and game. Available at most Sav-a-Centers, Whole Foods Market on Esplanade Avenue, Dorignac's, Langenstein's in Metairie, Breaux Mart on Severn Avenue and in River Ridge, Habano's in Slidell, Acquistapace's Covington Super Market and Wine Down in Mandeville.
