© 2008 Elsewhere Films Filmmakers Tia Lessin and Carl Deal met Kimberly and Scott Roberts (pictured) at a shelter in Alexandria following Hurricane Katrina. The two had survived in the attic of their home after the levee breaches flooded their Ninth Ward neighborhood. Kimberly shared with them raw footage she had taken with a camcorder before the storm arrived and during the onslaught of high winds and rising floodwaters. Lessin and Deal's documentary Trouble the Water includes harrowing shots of waves washing over stop signs and people wading chest-deep through the flood in search of higher ground. Much of the film follows the Robertses after the storm, as they move to Memphis and eventually back home to New Orleans. It's a remarkable story and the film covers some little known aspects of the evacuation from inundated areas like the Ninth Ward by people who weren't rescued by boat or helicopter.
