was named a recipient of the United Way of Southeast Louisiana's Alexis de Tocqueville Award, the organization's highest honor. The former Entergy Corporation chairman and CEO, who is a former chairman of the New Orleans United Way Board of Trustees, will receive the award at a New Orleans event Oct. 12.

U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks,
a Republican running for U.S. Attorney Gen. Jeff Sessions' Senate seat in Alabama, used audio from the shooting of Louisiana Congressman Steve Scalise in a campaign ad aired last week. Brooks later offered to withdraw from the race if Sessions returned to the seat — if other candidates agreed to do the same. Using the tragedy that befell Scalise for political gain is shameless and inexcusable.
