New Orleans Artists Against Hunger and Homelessness (NOAAHH)
awarded $58,500 in grants to 18 organizations providing food, health care, housing and other services to people and families in the New Orleans area. NOAAHH has distributed more than $3 million to charitable organizations since its first benefit concerts more than 30 years ago.
Hogs for the Cause barbecue teams
raised more than $1.3 million for families battling pediatric brain cancer at its 2017 event, with team Fleur de Que raising more than $225,000. The Boar's Nest and Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q also raised more than $100,000 each. Fleur de Que has won the Ben Sarrat Jr. Fundraising Champion title five years in a row.
former St. Tammany district attorney, was sentenced to four years in jail by U.S. District Judge Eldon Fallon on April 5 following Reed's 2016 convictions for mail and wire fraud, money laundering and other charges. His son Steven Reed was given five years of probation following convictions for conspiracy, wire fraud and money laundering.
