The Cheezy Cajun (3325 St. Claude Ave.) closed July 30. The owners announced the shuttering on the restaurant's Facebook page. Owners Doug Minich and Michael Ducote opened the restaurant and meat market in late 2015, serving whimsical dishes with Cajun influence and a heavy dose of Wisconsin cheese. What caused the closure was not immediately clear, but it comes during a particularly rough summer for restaurants in the neighborhood. The owners of nearby Cafe Henri announced recently that it would close, and Bywater restaurant Oxalis called it quits in May.
