Nine local authors, editors and chefs participating in the Tales of the Cocktail event will convene one week early for a mass book signing. The festival, to take place Aug. 18-20, is a celebration of the history and culture of cocktails and cuisine in New Orleans. Come meet and greet John Biguenet, Ted Breaux, Kerri McCaffety, Kevin Roberts, Poppy Z. Brite (pictured), Katy Casbarian, Joshua Clark, Kenneth Holditch and Tom Weaver, all of whom have written about cuisine and cocktails in our town, although some more generally than others. Casbarian (Arnaud's Restaurant Cookbook), Weaver (Court of Two Sisters Cookbook) and Roberts focus on local restaurants and cuisine. Biguenet (author of Oyster and The Torturer's Apprentice), Brite (Prime and Liquor) and Clark (editor of French Quarter Fiction) tend to remain in the realm of fiction, while McCaffety (Obituary Cocktail), Breaux (editor of Absinthe: Sip of Seduction) and Holditch (Galatoire's Biography of a Bistro) deal in history. A commemorative poster designed by Kerri McCaffety for the upcoming festival will be on sale. Free admission.
