- Physical therapist and proprietor Gini Davis displays two of the fall shoe styles available exclusively at Perfect Fit Shoes.
At Perfect Fit Shoes (Continental Shopping Plaza, 5012 W. Esplanade Ave., Metairie, 456-5993; www.perfectfitshoes.net), the heels that turn heads are also the heels that soothe your sole.
With everything from lightweight leopard-print flats to sandals with heels and padded insoles, the store offers style as well as comfort, says owner Gini Davis, a physical therapist and foot/ankle specialist. The shop carries a wide range of styles, sizes and widths, and Davis provides fittings for orthotics as well as insole adjustments.
On Saturday, Oct. 3, the store hosts a special event with Sherril Harris, a trainer for the "anti-shoe" line MBT, designed to alleviate back and joint pain by ensuring the foot moves naturally. Harris will present "Walk Your Way to Health — Learn Fitness Cross Training" from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and customers not only will see new MBT styles for men and women but also will receive savings of 10 percent on purchases.
Davis opened Perfect Fit Shoes in 2006 to help patients who found it difficult to find comfortable, fashionable footwear. "My patients would come to me and they wouldn't have shoe options," Davis says.
She provides customers a unique array of couture shoes that are difficult to find elsewhere — lines like MBT; Thierry Rabotin, crafted in Italy, which Davis says is "as close as you can come to a handmade shoe"; Munro; Finn Comfort; Romus; Sanita clogs and more.
"A lot of the shoes in my store aren't available in other New Orleans stores," Davis says. "Most of the time people think that a shoe that's good for their feet isn't going to be good looking. But we are here to offer stylish, comfortable shoes."
