Sole of Fashion

Fashion is more fun when you have lots of choices, and affordable shoes can expand a woman's options dramatically. Operating on that notion, Susan Hanson and Julie Lambert have accessorized the feet of Northshore women for four years through Maizy A Shoe Boutique (The Village Shopping Center, 2881 Hwy. 190, Mandeville, 985-674-7777).

The store, which has been in its present location for two years, offers a variety of styles and price ranges, from $25 thongs to $120 dress shoes. The goal, Hanson says, is to provide a shopping venue where both teenagers and more mature women can find shoes that are fun, comfortable and stylish. The owners cover the bases by stocking brands such as Yellow Box, Carlos (from Carlos Santana), Pierre Dumas, Jeffrey Campbell, Me Too, Magic Bus, Bruno Valenti, Guess, Steve Madden and more.

"What we try and do is have a range of items in here that would appeal to a mother and her daughter," Hanson says. "We love shoes and we want people to have a lot of cute shoes instead of two or three pairs in basic black and brown that go with everything.

"There are so many cute things on the market, especially with the colors, it's more fun to have multiple shoes. We like the fun fashion (shoes) more than the working girl's, although we do have things for them, too."

In addition to shoes, Maizy has handbags from makers such as Amber Lynn's Designs, Giovane, Chinese Laundry, Ego, and Loop as well as jewelry, gifts, T-shirts, and straw and fabric hats.

Big Change for Small
Award-winning jewelry designer Janet Bruno-Small has moved her Mon Coeur studio from Metairie Road to 3952 Magazine St. (899-0064). The new studio and gallery showcases Bruno-Small's jewelry creations as well as those of other designers. She also carries estate jewelry and antiques, provides restoration services and will custom design pieces.

Moving North
CC's Coffee House now is serving customers at Lakeview Regional Medical Center (95 E. Fairway Drive., Covington, 985-871-4133). The company, which has outlets in New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Lafayette, expanded to the Northshore Feb. 25; the medical center location will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
