Skip Williamson: Recent Work

Who is Skip Williamson? His abbreviated artist bio provided by l'Art Noir can only be described as Dostoyevskian in its scope and pathos: 'Skip Williamson is a renegade despised by the Art Community. During his lifetime he's plumbed the art underground and swum the carnal fleshpots of publishing. In the late '60s, he made comix with Robert Crumb and illustrated his friend Abbie Hoffman's Steal This Book, was founding art director of Hustler and art directed Playboy during the preposterous disco decade. Currently Williamson produces large cartoon canvasses depicting social abomination, sexual equivocation and political treachery. He is a hopeless romantic in a hopelessly unromantic world, an anarchist proponent of Chaos Theory and a great cook, a pagan who doesn't follow the party line " a loose canon in the gene pool." — D. Eric Bookhardt
