The American Cancer Society will hold its Hope Gala fund-raiser to help battle cancer from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, at the Shops at Canal Place (333 Canal St.) first-floor atrium. The event will include entertainment by The Tip Tops, refreshments and appearances by celebrity chairs Sally Ann Roberts and Eric Paulsen. Tickets are $100 per person. Locals will be treated to a motor coach tour of the city the way visitors see it Ñ in air-conditioned motor coaches with professional tour guides Ñ for free on Sunday, Aug. 13, during LocalsÕ Day. The free tours are hosted by the New Orleans Metropolitan Convention and Vistors Bureau (nomcvb), the Tour Guide Associaton of Greater New Orleans and Grayline Tours.
