The Encore Shop (7814 Maple St., 861-9028) just received a donation of 220 pairs of upscale shoes by American and European designers in lots of styles and colors — some never worn — in sizes 5 1/2 to 6 1/2. The store will offer the shoes for $15 a pair at a special "If the Shoe Fits" fundraiser at the shop on Saturday, April 8. Proceeds benefit musicians of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra.

Jared Galleria of Jewelry (3400 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, 885-2221) reopened a week ago after being closed for repairs since Hurricane Katrina. The Metairie superstore is like a large jewelry department store that offers diamonds, gold, color gemstones and watches priced from less than $100 to more than $20,000. Its diamond department offers loose diamonds and ready-to-wear settings ranging in size from .2 carat to more than 3 carats.

Lizano's Glass Haus (3400 Cleary Ave., Suite B, Metairie, 454-1144) has introduced a "Blue Roof Collection" of handmade artworks that feature fused glass houses in an assortment of colors and sizes mounted on roofing slate salvaged after Hurricane Katrina from damaged houses in New Orleans. In addition, the business has an assortment of blue-roof themed pins, pendants, tie tacks and magnets.

Fashion expert Rik Ducar, who consulted for the TV shows THE BACHELOR AND EXTREME MAKEOVER , will make a fashion presentation with a focus on dos and don'ts for grooms during WEDDINGS IN STYLE magazine's "Who's Who In I Do" bridal event from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 9, at the InterContinental Hotel (444 St. Charles Ave.). The event also will include showcases of wedding-related goods and services of all kinds from more than 100 Vendors and experts. Admission is $10 in advance, $15 at the door. Whole Foods Arabella Station (5600 Magazine St., 899-9119; will donate 3 percent of its sales on Wednesday, April 5, to the nonprofit group Rebuilding Hope in New Orleans. The store has been donating a portion of its Wednesday sales to a different charity each week since March 1. The program will run through April 19.
