Sex Workers' Art Show Tour

There's no better show to break in Zeitgeist's new raw space than the Sex Workers' Art Show. The annual tour of performing sex workers includes current and former prostitutes, strippers, dominatrices, phone-sex operators, drag queens, burlesque dancers, sexed-up writers and spoken word artists. It's a variety show that flirts with taboos, delves into candid confessions and celebrates survival in the gritty/seedy world of sex for money. Performers include stars from the demimonde of new burlesque like Miss Dirty Martini and World Famous *BOB*. Dominatrix Keva I. Lee (pictured) transforms Asian stereotypes like 'Dragon Lady" and 'Passive Lotus Flower" into empowered sex goddesses. Tour founder and host Annie Oakley recently released an anthology, Working Sex: Sex Workers Write About a Changing Industry (Seal Press), featuring pieces by many of the show's performers. Zeitgeist is returning to Central City and finishing work on its new space just in time for one of its most popular annual events. Tickets $15, $12 Zeitgeist members, $6 Patron members. — Kate Mooney
