New Orleans is now home to the country's first green independent movie studio and soundstage. Opened last month, Second Line Stages, a 220,000-square-foot facility in the Lower Garden district, meets the U.S. Green Building Council's standards for silver LEED certification. Owned by developer Susan Brennan, the facility incorporated the renovation of previous structures onsite and the addition of a new building. Second Line Stages includes three soundstages (18,000, 12,500 and 7,400 square feet), 18,000 square feet of production space, 73,000 square feet of warehouse space, a 20,000-square-foot office space, a 43-seat digital screening theater, post-production facilities and more.
Local architect John Williams led the design efforts, with contracting by Landis Construction Company. Visit www.secondlinestages.com for more information.
