Rebirth Brass Band "Rebirthday"; 23rd Anniversary Throwdown

The foremost bringers of the Treme funk have stuck together for a long time, and they're throwing this bash to celebrate a whopping 23 years together. The Frazier brothers and company have spent nearly a quarter-century providing the soundtrack to neighborhood second lines and Tuesday night parties at the Maple Leaf with their patented traditional brass sound updated with elements of hip-hop and funk. And if you've been in New Orleans for more than a week, you've gotten their original hit "Do Whatcha Wanna" stuck in your head. The Rebirth, which has toured extensively in Europe, Japan and Africa and has shared stages with artists from the Grateful Dead to George Clinton and P-Funk, was also recently the subject of Charlie Brown's feature-length documentary, Never a Dull Moment, which premiered at Canal Place last month. Tickets $10. — Alison Fensterstock
