David Vitter, reversing his support for the national Common Core State Standards. Many but not all GOP politicians, including Gov. Bobby Jindal, dropped their support of Common Core after it became unpopular with their most conservative Republican constituents. Vitter had long supported Common Core — until last week. The standards are still supported by many Louisiana business organizations and most state lawmakers.
