"[Gov. Bobby Jindal is] just trying to keep the balls in the air long enough that he can exit the stage and have them come crashing down on somebody behind him." — State Rep. John Bel Edwards, D-Amite, to a luncheon at the Baton Rouge Press Club July 21. Edwards, the only Democrat so far to announce his bid for governor in 2015, criticized Jindal's piecemeal approach to budgeting and took a swipe at U.S. Sen. David Vitter, who already has announced his own candidacy for governor. Putting Vitter in office, Edwards said, would amount to "a third Jindal term, except Jindal on steroids."
