Quintron & Miss Pussycat with the Black Lips

If Quintron and Miss Pussycat ever had a comfort zone, the past two years have been all about obliterating it. In early 2010, the spell-casting couple transformed NOMA's contemporary art wing and sculpture garden into a hallucinogenic puppet show and live-recording petting zoo. (The fruit of that sacrilegious labor, Sucre du Sauvage — translated: Wild Sugar — is due April 12 on Goner Records.) Last week in Miami, they boarded the 2,000-passenger ship Carnival Imagination with a small army of garage-rocking stowaways (Black Lips, Thee Oh Sees, Vivian Girls, Ty Segall, Surfer Blood, Turbo Fruits) as the better-than-average entertainment for the Bruise Cruise, a wave-lapping music festival bound for the Bahamas. For this gig, a One Eyed Jacks-packing Fat Monday fixture, they have RSVPs from future-shock sissy bounce MC Vockah Redu and fellow lounge singers the Black Lips and Turbo Fruits. Sometimes you need a vacation from your vacation. Tickets $15. — Noah Bonaparte Pais
