Put a Egg on It comes to New Orleans



  New York City-based food magazine Put a Egg on It ( comes to New Orleans for an interactive residency at Press Street (3718 St. Claude Ave., 504-298-3161; The biannual magazine focuses on the "historic, artistic and metaphysical qualities of food" and celebrates the communal joys of eating with friends and family through personal essays, recipes, illustrations, photos and more.

  The New Orleans visit is part of the group's ongoing project called "If I Knew You Were Coming, I'd Have Baked a Cake," and it runs Nov. 19-23. There's a reception from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Nov. 22. The project involves visitors sharing stories about meals they've made or eaten, and the exchanges will be filmed and photographed.

  The residency is sponsored by Cutty Sark, Brugal Rum and Good Eggs. There's a pop-up shop featuring small-batch products (including Sir Kensington Ketchup and A&B Pepper Sauce) as well as a selection of independent food magazines.
