The Urban Conservancy and StayLocal are throwing their annual Urban Heroes Celebration on Thursday, November 12th at Carmo. The event highlights their progress as an organization and our progress as a community to promote equitable access to our city's and our region's rich economic, environmental, and cultural assets.
The Urban Conservancy will honor three individuals at the event who have been instrumental in shaping their vision for a vibrant and resilient New Orleans. This year's theme, "Our Watershed Moment," is inspired by their Urban Heroes' ability to address New Orleans' long-standing issues in new and innovative ways. A “watershed moment” is a time of important change and they believe that together we are steering New Orleans towards its brightest horizon.
They proudly recognize this year's Urban Heroes:
• Flozell Daniels, Jr., CEO & President of Foundation for Louisiana
• Jay Nix, Owner of Parkway Bakery and Tavern
• Prisca Weems, Stormwater Manager for the City of New Orleans
Funds raised from the Urban Heroes Celebration help build a robust local economy founded on local ownership as well as to align our City's natural and built environments.
Dinner will be catered by Café Carmo and includes eclectic and traditional dishes with an emphasis on fresh, local ingredients. Wine, beer, and a specialty cocktail will be served along with a cash bar for all other tastes. In addition, Three Piece Spicy will be providing live music for the evening.
