ABOUT HOUSE OF SHOCK: House of Shock Haunted House and Halloween Festival (319 Butterworth St., Jefferson, LA 70121) is back for its 25th season. Click here for the 2017 schedule.
To celebrate the 25th anniversary, House of Shock is paying tribute to NOLA’s own storied, macabre history – just in time for the city’s tricentennial celebration.
House of Shock is a 25,000-square-foot haunted house attraction comprised of three beefed up events – The House of Shock Haunted House, Laff in the Dark 3D (a clown nightmare nod to classic funhouses, featuring floor-to-ceiling 3D painted murals) and brand new is The House of Wax, with each room dedicated to a grisly instance from New Orleans’ past (e.g. the LaLaurie Mansion, Marie Laveau, and Morgus the Magnificent).
There’s always a stage show (this year’s is new!) featuring pyrotechnics, contortionists, sword swallowers, suspension body modifiers, costumed House of Shock cast members and live music. The outdoor entertainment is free and open to the public, with a full service bar and food stations nearby.
