Mr. Legs VII

Pageant dreams will come true Saturday, but not in the traditional ball gown, sparkling tiara sort of way. It's more not-so-full Monty. Showing some (hairy) skin and adding an over-the-top costumed routine will catapult pageant hopefuls into the lead at Mr. Legs VII, where it's men seeking the glory. Each scantily clad male contestant gets his chance to show more than a little leg in a solo routine on the runway, vying for coveted titles like hairiest legs, knobbiest knees, best performance and most pigment-challenged legs. The panel of celebrity judges includes WWL-TV's Krystal Boothe. The ultimate title of Mr. Legs VII actually has nothing to do with inner or outer beauty or even homages to world peace; it goes to the man who brings home the bacon, or in this case raises the most money for the Bridge House, a local drug and alcohol rehabilitation clinic. Last year's event raised $53,000 for the clinic. This year, a 1986 Porsche 944 Coupe will be raffled during the pageant. There is complimentary food, an open bar and valet parking. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door, $50 for VIP seating with a special view of the stage. -- Emily Hohenwarter
