Mirabelle Brut Rosé Non-Vintage

Northern California / $20-$23 Retail

The inexpensive entry in Schramsberg's California sparkling lineup, Mirabelle is a carefully crafted blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes sourced from cool-climate vineyards in Carneros, Anderson Valley, and Sonoma and Marin coastal areas. Base wines aged in barrels and tanks for a year or more are added to the cuvée to achieve greater complexity and depth. In the glass, the salmon-hued wine exhibits aromas of bright berry fruit, refreshing watermelon and toasty notes followed by strawberry, raspberry and cherry flavors with a zesty swish of pink grapefruit on the finish. For New Year's Eve or anytime, this is a terrific bottle of bubbly. It is also great with hors d'oeuvres, grilled salmon, oysters, roast fowl and egg dishes such as truffled omelets and eggs Sardou. Where to buy it: Swirl Wines, Rouses in Uptown, Dorignac's and Acquistapace's Covington Supermarket. Where to drink it: Irene's Cuisine and Ruth's Chris Steak House.
