Uptown coffee shop and croissant baker Rivista (4226 Magazine St., 504-371-5558; www.facebook.com/rivistanola) will close May 29.
The owners of the Uptown breakfast and brunch spot announced May 11 on Facebook:
"As much as we would like to continue on into another year, my husband Chris and I have decided to call it a day," owner Lisa Barbato wrote. "Please know that though this may seem like a sad occasion, it is [actually] a good move for us and our family. We will miss Rivista and all that we have created here, but it is you that we will miss the most."
The petite coffee shop and bakery opened three years ago and featured buttery croissants, savory tarts and breakfast and lunch specials, which often highlighted local produce. Lisa Barbato said the decision to close was a difficult one but she still sells cookies and pastries every Saturday at the Crescent City Farmers Market.
"We're just gonna take a break for right now," Barbato said last week, adding that construction work on Napoleon Avenue and limited parking had put a strain on afternoon business.
On the bakery's last day, the team will throw a brunch with Champagne and cake, Barbato said. "We're gonna go out with a party."
