Aug 23 | A frequent late-night TV comedian and bit-part veteran of Vince Vaughn projects (Couples Retreat), Steve Byrne created the sitcom Sullivan & Son, in which he plays a small-town lawyer and bartender. Byrne and the cast perform at 8 p.m. at One Eyed Jacks.

Mississippi Rail Company
Wed. Aug. 20 | Mississippi Rail Company has been releasing singles on a monthly basis in 2014, most recently August's "Three Little Girls." The newfangled old-school New Orleans R&B band is joined by Johnny Sansone and Colin Lake at Wednesdays on the Point on the Algiers Point levee from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Sat. Aug. 23 | This suds celebration features 21 craft beers from Louisiana breweries and performances by pop/rock natives Brass Bed, The Scorseses, The Wooden Wings and others. At 7 p.m. at House of Blues.

Phillip Manuel Swings The Beatles
Sat. Aug. 23 | Festival watchers wondered if Paul McCartney would headline the 2014 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. He didn't materialize, but jazz and R&B vocalist Phillip Manuel wowed audiences with his version of Fab Four hits. He reprises the show at 8 p.m. at Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro.

Boyz II Men with Keith Sweat and En Vogue
Sun. Aug. 24 | Three artists have replaced themselves at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart: Elvis Presley, The Beatles and Boyz II Men. Those who thought the group found the end of the road when bass singer Michael McCary quit in 2003 should get down on bended knees. Keith Sweat and En Vogue open at 7 p.m. at Champions Square.

Mon. Aug. 25 | Massachusetts punk band California X — bridging the big, melodic hooks of '80s midwestern rock 'n' roll with the namesake state's grungy, space-filling alt-rock — released its self-titled debut on Don Giovanni Records last year. Heat Dust and Pope open at 9 p.m. Saturn Bar.
