Let the Right One In

Swedish goth horror film Let the Right One In made it to New Orleans due to the efforts of the Zeitgeist Multi-Disciplinary Arts Center. But founder Rene Broussard wasn't the only one to pick it from obscurity. As award nominations and end-of-the-year round-ups are announced, the bloody tale of childhood vulnerability and cruelty has collected awards from film festivals, raves from critics and made the top ten lists of mainstream sources like and Time Out New York. The Washington Post and Variety picked it as the best foreign film of the year. Zeitgeist begins another weeklong run of the film on Friday. Lina Leandersson (pictured) stars as the ageless Eli, who befriends a bullied neighbor, Oskar, and the two become mutual protectors through a sweet and menacing bond. Tickets $7 general admission, $6 students/seniors, $5 Zeitgeist members. — Will Coviello
