Dont think of this as a diet, per say, but as a change in eating habits. Seeing a registered dietitian who is knowledgeable in diabetes care can help to make it simple and realistic. You dont have to give up your favorite foods, or even those beloved carbohydrates. Controlling carbohydrates is the key to good blood sugar control.
