Call for Nominations Gambit Weekly is seeking nominations for our annual New Orleanian of the Year, an honor given to a local resident who has made outstanding contributions to the metropolitan area during 2008.
To submit a nomination, send a brief biographical sketch of the nominee and the reasons you believe this person deserves recognition. Elected officials are not eligible.

In "Obama in Absentia" (News & Views, Oct. 28), Gambit Weekly stated that state Sen. Don Cravins was among the surrogates for presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama on the Louisiana Democratic Party's recent "Change for Louisiana" bus tour. Cravins was scheduled to appear at a Lafayette rally but did not attend.
