On Wednesday evenings this summer, Wolfe's Restaurant (1041 Dumaine St., 593-9535; www.wolfesrestaurant.com) restyles itself as an upscale taqueria. For the weekly "Salsa Night," chef Tom Wolfe makes tacos with smoked salmon and mango, fried fish with grilled romaine, or tongue for $7 to $8. The menu also includes gazpacho, ceviche and nachos with crabmeat and fried mirliton.
On Board on Broad
Around the time Ruth's Chris Steakhouse announced it would donate its shuttered Broad Street building to Tulane University for use as a health clinic, a new steak restaurant opened 10 blocks down the road. Gild's Steakhouse (300 S. Broad St., 821-4587) serves filets, rib-eyes, T-bones and seafood dishes. A few sandwiches are available at lunch. The converted double-shotgun home sports a pair of small dining rooms and a bar.
