Party Girl

Fiesta Latina (133 N. Carrollton Ave., 484-0590) is the latest Latin American eatery to open along a Mid-City restaurant row with plenty of tortilla-based competition. The restaurant is an expansion of the original Fiesta Latina in Kenner (1924 Airline Hwy., 468-2384), and has a wide-ranging menu of Latin American dishes, including breakfast. It also serves raw and grilled oysters, a holdover from the building's previous life as an oyster bar.

Lunching Again

Cooking classes at Savvy Gourmet (4519 Magazine St., 895-2665; www.savvygourmet.com) can teach you to prepare meals at home, and the shop's retail racks are stocked with the tools to do the job. But if you want to cut to the chase and get fed, the Uptown shop once again serves lunch four days a week. There is a different salad, soup and sandwich each Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and an omelet menu on Saturday.
