Bourbon on Bourbon

Bourbon House (144 Bourbon St., 522-0111; hosts a bourbon-tasting party Thursday. The event includes hors d'oeuvres, cocktails and an informal guided tasting of the Small Batch Boutique Collection from Kentucky Bourbon Distillers. The party is from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and costs $20. Sales of bottled bourbons benefit the Southern Food and Beverage Museum. For reservations, email or call 274-1829.

k-Uddos to Mike's

The opening of the new Mike's American Grill (4300 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metaire, 885-5566) signaled the return of native son and veteran chef Michael Uddo. He was formerly the chef/owner of G&E Courtyard Grill in the French Quarter in the 1990s and later was the chef at Nautical on Maple Street. Mike's is an updated American-style steakhouse with many grilled fish dishes. Mike's serves lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday and weekend brunch.
