Lakeview Sunset
The Harrison Avenue Marketplace ( scheduled for Wednesday should be a scene of Lakeview celebration and great eating (if the electricity is on). The outdoor market was created last year as a monthly gathering spot on Lakeview's commercial corridor for people rebuilding after Katrina and quickly developed an impressive list of area restaurants dishing out samples of their specialties to the crowd. As previously scheduled, Wednesday's market will see Café Adelaide mixing cocktails from its Swizzle Stick Bar , and the list of restaurants expected to serve food includes Galatoire's , Crépes a la Cart , Drago's Seafood Restaurant , Serranos Salsa Co. , Chops Bistro & Martini Bar and Beebe's on the Lake . Vaucresson Sausage will offer tastes of its crawfish sausage and Nick's Sno-balls & Gelato will provide icy sweets while a gamut of local caterers, markets and other organizations will serve other food and drinks. Brenda Mac and the Mac Pack , the house band from Beebe's on the Lake, will perform. The market is pet-friendly and takes place in the parking lot at 801 Harrison Ave. from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Cans for a Cause
The proverbial 99 bottles of beer on the wall don't have anything on the assemblages of canned food that will be rising at The Shops at Canal Place this weekend. That's when the American Institute of Architects holds its annual CANstruction fundraiser for Second Harvest Food Bank . In 80 cities across the nation, CANstruction events invite local designers and students to turn thousands of intact canned goods into stacked sculptures. Local teams will begin building their entries on Friday, and they will be unveiled and judged the following day during a gala beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Canal Place. Tickets for the gala are $25 general admission and $15 for students. The evening includes food from 20 local restaurants, live music and an open bar. The creations will be on display through Sept. 20, when Second Harvest Food Bank will distribute the canned food to agencies serving people in need.
